Hi, I’m Adam.

I build useful things, follow interesting roads, and rarely mind a good detour.

My story starts in Kenosha, Wisconsin, with a supportive family, a very Midwestern childhood, and a Commodore VIC-20 that opened the door to a lifelong fascination with computers. The path was rarely straight, but each move introduced new people, new problems, and another reason to keep learning.

The long way here

I have spent nearly three decades learning how technology can solve real problems and bring people together.

  1. Early 1980s Kenosha, Wisconsin

A very lucky gift from my Father, a Commodore VIC-20, opened the door to a lifelong fascination with computers.

  2. 1996 Silicon Valley

I joined an amazing group of people creating an early internet gaming and chat service. I started in technical support, moved to testing, and then engineering.

  3. Early 2000s San Francisco

I helped build an internet radio network with a team of very talented people.

  4. Early 2000s Portland

Created a support escalation department for an electronic-discovery company. Met some more awesome people.

  5. Mid-2000s Los Angeles

I built a terestial radio distribution system, contributed to the NFL.com redesign, and worked on web projects across Disney.

  6. 2010s Fredericksburg, Virginia

Work on FDIC.gov, VA.gov, and other public-facing sites made responsive design and accessibility central to the job.

  7. Today Philadelphia

I lead software development teams at IQVIA, helping engineers grow, remove obstacles, and deliver reliable software.

The tools keep changing; curiosity, patience, and clear communication never go out of date.

Still following the interesting road

Moving from Wisconsin to California, Oregon, Virginia, and Philadelphia taught me to embrace new adventures and try new things.

That is why my side projects tend to begin with something I genuinely enjoy: Dirt Track Racing (opens in a new tab), the history and daily life around Broad & Spring Garden (opens in a new tab) and WhatsThe511 (opens in a new tab), a night out along Sansom Street on Get Sansom (opens in a new tab), intimate theater on Philly Stage (opens in a new tab), or a celebration site like Philly Hooley (opens in a new tab).

When I am not building something practical, I am probably building something playful. On Fun, you will find a group Boggle game, generated paintings, and slow-moving scenes. On Music, you will find the playlists I really enjoy. I like life with a little variety: a useful website, a new challenge, an unfamiliar neighborhood, a great song, and people worth meeting. The journey has covered a lot of miles, and I am curious about what lies ahead.
